The Black Creatives Exhibition at Drink, Shop & Do

I was pleased to be among a host of Black Creatives participating in this exhibition at Drink, Shop & Do for the whole of July this year.

The exhibition

‘Celebrating Black Creatives’ was an exhibition of the works of over 30 multidisciplinary artists from the Black community. The free show was open every weekend of July, with 100% of sales from the artworks going directly to the artists.

Pencil Disc Neckpieces

The creations I am making as part of this year’s 100 day project have been influenced in part by the Nkruma Pencil batik motif, named after Ghana’s first president, Kwame Nkrumah. Read about my project here.

The Pencil design is created by laying a one-colour base, then slicing polymer clay canes to add to the surface in formation.

The Exploded Pencil Disc Neckpiece

The 100mm diameter, exploded Pencil Neckpiece is another take on the Nkruma Pencil motif. The design is made in a similar way then the finished sheet is carefully cut into shards. The result is as if someone lit a fuse to explode the uniformity of the Pencil lines.

The Exploded Pencil disc in 60mm or 100mm is available by commission only.

Each disc is fully abstract and one-of-a-kind.
