Today, I want to share with you something that has been on my mind a lot lately: consistency. It’s a concept that has been instrumental in shaping my journey as a jewellery maker, and I believe it’s something that can resonate with many of you.

While consistency often evokes images of uniformity and repetition, I invite you to explore a different kind of consistency – one that celebrates the beauty of inconsistency.

After graduating from the London College of Fashion and spending several years in the world of fashion buying, I found myself craving… hmn.. a ‘kinder 9-5 workplace environment’ and more hands-on creative outlet.

While my chosen career had taken me away from the creative field, my love for fashion, especially costume jewellery, remained close to my heart, especially the bold and beautiful world of costume jewellery. Remember those big hoops and chandelier earrings you fought your best friend over in school? That kind of magic.. I always sought treasures that would stand out from a crowd in a shop or market stall, and it was this love for jewellery that eventually led me to explore the world of jewellery making.

But one material, stole my heart: polymer clay. The possibilities were endless! It could be moulded, sculpted, stamped and transformed into anything my imagination could conjure. But here’s the thing that truly blew my mind: even with the same techniques, everyone in the class created something completely unique. That was the magic of consistency, right there!

Consistency isn’t about uniformity, it’s about showing up, day in and day out, for your craft.

It’s like that local bakery you frequent, knowing they’ll always have your favourite cake, but maybe with a surprising new seasonal twist. It’s the dedication to quality, the commitment to your vision, that allows you to refine your skills and develop a signature style. Sure, there might be days when inspiration feels scarce, but that’s where consistency becomes your anchor. It keeps you creating, experimenting, and pushing your boundaries, even when the muse decides to take an (unauthorised) holiday.

Consistency, for me, isn’t about making the exact same thing over and over again. It’s about finding your style, perfecting your craft, and staying true to your vision. It’s about continuously exploring new techniques, materials, and designs while staying true to your passion.

Since launching this site and sharing my first small collection of jewellery later that same year, I’ve been on a journey of self-discovery and creativity. With each new collection, I challenge myself to push the boundaries of what I can create. Whether it’s experimenting with new colours, textures, or styles, I’m always striving to grow as an artist.

But consistency isn’t just about what I create; it’s also about how I connect with you.
