Black Creatives @ Drink, Shop & Do

I am pleased to be among the host of Black Creatives participating in this exhibition at Drink, Shop & Do.

‘Celebrating Black Creatives’ is an exhibition of the works of over 30 multidisciplinary artists from the Black community.

The show is open every weekend in July, with 100% of sales of the artworks going directly to the artists. Entry is free to the public.

Booking a slot is encouraged to ensure the venue remains Covid-safe.

My contribution.

The creations I am making as part of this year’s 100 day project have been influenced in part by the Nkruma Pencil batik motif, named after Ghana’s first president, Kwame Nkrumah. Read about my project here.

Cane laying for an Nkruma Pencil disc..

The exploded Coco Leaf neckpiece..

The 100mm diameter, exploded Pencil Neckpiece is another take on the Nkruma Pencil motif. The design is made by laying individual cane slices on an eye-catching colour base then carefully cutting the finished sheet into shards similar to the Coco Leaf disc below. The result is as if someone lit a fuse to explode the uniformity of the Pencil lines.

The Exploded Pencil disc in 60mm or 100mm is available here, via the contact form in any colour choice. Each each disc is fully abstract and one-of-a-kind.

Visit Drink Shop & Do on Caledonian Road between midday and 8pm each Saturday & Sunday in July.
